Students: Unable to Embed YouTube videos into Blackboard? Here’s the Fix

Student users upload videos via the content editor. If you use the default embed code, your video will not display in your post.

Fix: (If student edits of content are permitted) You can edit the post, and re-add the video in the content editor by switching from Simple to Advanced Mode. The content editor has two view modes: simple mode and advanced mode. Change the view in the upper-right corner of the content editor.

Simple Mode

The simple mode contains a minimal set of the most used text formatting functions. To access the HTML editor Click the show more represented by two down pointing arrows—to access more editor functions.

Advanced Mode

Once you have clicked on the two down pointing arrows,  you can access the content editors advanced features. The advanced mode includes every available formatting and object attachment function. Click the HTML code view function to open the HTML Code View window. Then, you can directly edit the content HTML code. Insert https:// before the URL of the YouTube video. When finished, click Update to apply your changes or Cancel to abort.
