*1/08/16 Update: This is still an issue in Blackboard so professors who save rather than submit WILL lose their work.
A nice addition to the new Blackboard is the ability to use rubrics to accelerate the assessment and grading process. There are some issues however that Blackboard will resolve in its next release. When using the rubric for grading, the scores from each category will give a raw total score but the professor must still manually enter the score into the total box. This may be nice for the occasional assignment that is curved and the professor puts into a multiplier. However, this is rare for normal assignments and even if this was the case, the multiplier is usually decided after all the grades are totaled anyway. If professors would like to save all the rubric calculations as drafts before releasing the final grades to all the students they should hide the grade center column associated with the assignment until the grading is complete.
