How can I add a Teaching Assistant to my Blackboard course?

If you are a USD faculty member, and need to add a Teaching Assistant (TA) to one of your Blackboard courses, please follow these instructions:

  1. Have the prospective TA complete the required FERPA training. This should take no more than 10 – 15 minutes. The student will be provided with a certificate of completion at the end of the training. He/she will need to send you a digital copy of that signed certificate.
  2. Submit your request to add a TA to your Blackboard course. You will be prompted to attach the certificate of FERPA training completion that your student has provided.

*Note: A TA cannot also be a student that is enrolled in your course.

Once your request has been submitted, please allow 24-48 (business) hours for your request to be processed.
